In 2025, Rome will welcome pilgrims from all over the world to celebrate the Jubilee Year, which is a major religious event that may impact travel plans.
It's recommended to book airfare, transportation to the Castello, and accommodations (exclusive of the Castello) as soon as possible to ensure you get the booking and price you want!
We are so excited to spend 3 days with you in Italy!
We hope you will be able to use this as an excuse for a European adventure.
We appreciate you will do your own research to make travel plans that suit you best - just please note, your passport cannot expire within 6 months of travel or else you may not be able to fly.
You will need to register for the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) if you do not have a UK visa or legal residency in the UK. This costs $12.75 and may take up to 3 days to process. This is required for all travelers. You can register here.
- Fly direct from the US to Rome (FCO).
- Alternatively, we recommend looking at flying into a major hub like NYC/London (LHR) then purchasing a separate flight to Rome (FCO) from NYC/London (LHR) to save on cost.
- Take the direct train from Fiumicino Airport (FCO) to Roma Termini (train station), which is 14€ per person. There is a special tariff for small groups: 4 tickets are 40€ instead of 56€. The train is called "Leonardo Express" and the ride takes about 35m.
- Take the train from Roma Termini to the Assisi station, which is about a 2h ride. Platform assignments become available about 30m before departure at Roma Termini, so don't be alarmed if you're there extra early and don't see your train listed!
- There will be plenty of taxis available outside of the Asissi train station that can take you directly to the Petrata.
Note: We advise checking the train schedules in advance from the website linked in the "TRAIN" section, so you are prepared for departure times. Give yourself ample time in between flight land times and train departure times if you are booking train tickets in advance.
We have full exclusivity of the venue! If you do not wish to stay at the Castello, you can book accommodations in the nearby town of Assisi, which is about a 15 minute drive away.
Check in is at 3pm on the 20th but feel free to arrive as early as 1pm and leave your luggage with the staff. Check out is at 2pm on the 22nd.
We recommend flying into the Rome airport, then taking a train or car to the venue. The travel time from airport to venue is about 2-3 hrs. Other airport options:
- Perugia Airport “San Francesco d’Assisi” - 25 minutes from venue
- Ancona Airport - 1 hour and 30 minutes from venue
- Florence "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport - 2 hours from venue
- Pisa Airport - 3 h Assisi Train Station - 15 minutes from venue
Direct trains from Roma Termini straight to the Assisi train station are available and take roughly 2 - 2.5 hrs for under 20€ per person.
NOTE: if flying into the FCO airport, you will need to take a train or car to the Roma Termini (station).
From there, you must take a taxi (there is no Uber!) to the Castello, which is about a 15 minute drive away.
Once you've landed in Italy, renting a car is another option to get to Assisi. It is roughly a 2.5-3 hr drive from Rome & under a 2.5 hr drive from Florence.
Parking is available at the Castello.
If you'd like to book a private driver to pick you up from the airport and drop you right off at the Castello, you may use a service like daytrip, which has easy online booking!
We met Henry when we visited the Petrata in October! You can add him on WhatsApp and he can coordinate taxis to and from the Castello at any time during our stay :)
